ADVENT CELEBRATION
Join us in celebrating the beginning of the new church year. On Sunday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m., we will have an Advent Celebration to
usher in the new church year and prepare for the coming of our Savior. Our musical groups – Ministry of Music Singers, Chancel Choir,
Handbell Choir, Emanuel Joy Choir, Celebration Bells and a High School group will all have a part in the celebration. We will also
enjoy congregational singing and a special fellowship time with dessert and coffee to follow. Please join us.
There are still opportunities for you to make our Advent Celebration a success. I am still looking for interested people to decorate tables
in the fellowship hall. You may choose to bring your own dishes or use the church’s. We also need desserts. Please contact Carol Ydstie at 432-5566 or sign up at the Welcome Center. Thank you.
The Sunday School/WOW Christmas Program, “Christmas in a Box” will be
Wednesday, December 16 at 5:45 p.m. and on Sunday, December 20 during the 10:45 a.m. church service. The children are busy rehearsing songs and lines during Sunday School and WOW times.
MANGE TUSEN TAKK (Norwegian for Many Thousand Thanks) to all of the people that helped make the Lefse Project a huge success. We finished making the lefse in record time!!! Thank you to those who purchased the lefse; to those who donated money for supplies; to those who helped make the mixture, fry and roll; to those who helped package. There are too many people to name, but you know who you are. Thank you again.
CHANCEL CHOIR will rehearse Wednesdays, December 2, 9 and 16 at 7:00 p.m. We will sing at the 5:00 p.m. Christmas Eve worship service and then break until Wednesday, January 6. We will rehearse at 7:00 p.m.
every Wednesday through the month of January. Thank you for all your hard work throughout the year.
BELL CHOIR will rehearse Wednesdays, December 2 & 9 and break until Wednesday, January 6. We rehearse at 5:00 p.m.
ALLELU will not sing in December. In January, we will lead worship on Sunday, the 31st at the 10:45 a.m. service. We will rehearse at 10:00 a.m. that morning.
MINISTRY OF MUSIC SINGERS will rehearse on Wednesday, December 2 at 6:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, December 6 at 10:00 a.m. in preparation for the Advent Celebration. We will also sing on Sunday, December 20 at the 8:30 a.m. worship only. In January we will rehearse on Wednesdays, the 20th & 27th at 6:00 p.m. We will sing at
worship on Sunday, January 31.
“How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place” is the theme for the Retreat for Church Musicians to be held January 21-24, 2010, at Blue Cloud Abbey. This retreat is open to part-time church musicians, those who enjoy singing, as well as full-time Ministers of Music. Dr. Paul Klemme, organist and choirmaster from St. Paul’s Episcopal in Salem, OR, and Mr. Kenneth DeJong, Minister of Music from St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue, WA, will lead the workshops, rehearsals and choral festival. The retreat will be a mostly choral experience as registrants prepare for the concluding choral festival on Sunday, January 24 at 3:00 p.m. The workshop is limited to 32 participants, so please see Susan Stinson or Carol Ydstie if you are interested in a
registration form. The Choral Festival on Sunday is open to the public. |
