St. Lucia Breakfast is on December 14th 2009-09-30
St. Lucia’s Day, the first day of the Christmas celebration in Sweden is always December 13th. Its origin dates back to the story of an Italian maiden who gave her life for her faith. Many legends surround Lucia’s courage in the face of persecution as a Christian and all of
them end with her execution on December 13, 304 AD, for her efforts in
spreading the Gospel. This will be the second year for our WELCA St. Lucia Breakfast. It is a guest event similar to the one hosted by the Elim Covenant Church women at Stockholm. This year the breakfast will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 14th. It is a great way to prepare your heart for Christmas and to focus on the birth of our Savior. You may sign up at the Welcome Center if you can help or if you have any Swedish decorations, such as the red candleholders, that you would be willing to share for decorations on the tables. Please watch the bulletins later in October for further information and dates and times for a planning meeting. We will meet to organize committees for decorating, program, food and serving.
